Event Co-Sponsoring Responsibility

All co-sponsoring recognized student groups are responsible for ensuring the event complies with University, school, and governing board policies. Co-sponsorship does not reduce or shift responsibility away from any involved group. This means group accountability extends across Co-Sponsors, who are accountable for misconduct connected to an event. 

Factors considered include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Whether the event grew out of the group’s activities;
  2. Whether the group sanctioned, encouraged, or helped organize the event;
  3. Whether leaders or members were aware of potential risks and failed to act;
  4. Whether the group failed to intervene or correct issues after the fact; and
  5. Overall, more than one group can be found responsible for the same incident.
